The Arribada

“Arribadas”, the Spanish word for arrivals, is commonly used in Costa Rica to describe the synchronized nesting of the Olive Ridley Sea Turtles on the volcanic sands of nearby Playa Ostinal. The turtles, known locally as “tortuga loras”, usually follow the lunar cycle during arribadas. Please refer to the Facebook Page of our friends, Tortuguiones, for assistance with any guided tours of this rarely-seen biological wonder.
